First day of unloading in Saigon

Excess supplies are stored in Saigon during the months we are not in Vietnam treating the poor patients. This day was 106 degrees real feel temperature and unloading many pounds of supplies down 4 floor makes for no easy task. The team stood up to the challenge and accomplished it in just a few short, sweaty, painful hours.

Finally packing medications and supplies

Finally after months of preparation and fundraising, the team has received the supply of medications for the mission. With the amazing effort and donations of friends, family, and colleagues we have raised enough USD to purchase all medications and supplies. Also to the generous Vietnamese Pharmacy, we are able to afford what we need.

Months of training and preparation

Team 2018 was selected in November of 2017 and started their training in January 2018. Weekly meetings for 1 hour at TUSP can only "prepare" a new team so much. Not until you arrive at clinic will you utilize all the knowledge, skills and expertise I know they have learned through the years.

Meet Team 2018

Please meet Team 2018: Tiffany Ngoc Huynh, Janine Asistido, Tina Lee, Thanh Truong, Truong Bui and Andy Tang. This team was selected through a highly competitive process and have been training hard since January 2018. For the past few months, they have been practicing their Vietnamese language skills, physical assessment techniques (BP, pulse, blood glucose monitoring etc...), and fundraising in order to prepare for this mission. Our journey began at 4:00am from Philadelphia. We boarded a shuttle bus for a 2 hour trip to JFK airport in New York. From here we took a 16 hour flight to Hong Kong and then finally another 3 hour flight to Saigon. We were graciously welcomed by our tour company host, Anh Nhat, who assisted with our transition. We will embark on the cultural awareness portion of our trip by traveling to Da Lat city in the central highlands.
